Words Are Stronger Than Thoughts

A recent study suggested that we have over 6000 thoughts per day. If you’re awake for 18 hours, that’s 333 thoughts per hour.

For me, that’s both fascinating and alarming. Our minds are amazing computers, but they also require more active management than we may fully appreciate.

How often do we struggle with the reconciliation of what we think, say and do?

Or worse yet, how often are we only superficially engaged (at best) with what we think, say and do?

Actions may speak louder than words, but even words are stronger than thoughts.

Your mind is a high horsepower engine of constant thought production, so it’s easy to be passively taken for the ride.

But there’s power in strapping in, engaging with that output and actively sorting it out.

Which thoughts are most important and require action? I’ve missed important opportunities and relationship milestones because I let the shooting star of a thought slip away into the darkness.

Sometimes the action you should take is to consciously reject the thought. I’m always on the lookout for thoughts that can trigger a black hole slide to debilitating negativity - I endeavor to crush them immediately.

Can you spot any trends? Do the same people, places or things come up? Your trends often require attention.

For me, consciously engaging with my torrent of thoughts is part of my strategy for living an intentional life. What I escalate, store and discard shapes my perspective and empowers me with a higher degree of control over how I leverage the power of my mind to create fulfilling productivity and relationships.
