I’ve learned that this picture highlights good business. For two decades of my life I focused on my “career” while I let myself go physically. It was a reverse transformation that was anything but inspiring and its manifestation was diametrically opposed to my accomplishments elsewhere.
Thankfully, I’ve came to realize that despite my perceived growth professionally, I was burdened, quite literally, because my physical self was never aligned with my mind or spirit. I’m grateful that over the course of years, I was able to make the behavioral and lifestyle changes necessary to “unburden” myself and today I am at a much healthier weight.
I now believe it is imperative to balance the mental and the physical. On good days, and more importantly bad days, I come here. The act of physically moving weight with my body always lightens the burdens of my mind and heart and I often find clarity and a new positive perspective to whatever may be troubling me. It is a reliable source of cathartic transference that feeds my vitality and mental acuity.
How do you prioritize your physical and mental health and how does that impact your performance professionally?
