We all have weaknesses and we should work to address them - especially those that can undermine long-term results.

But don’t spend too much time wrestling with your weaknesses.

Instead, spend most of your time focusing on your strengths.

Can you define your strengths? Try it right now - declare them.

How’d you do? Did the words come quickly and with confidence? Or did you have to think and struggle to express yourself?

In order to leverage your strengths you need to own them accurately and with conviction.

Consider starting with an objective third-party solution - I’ve found great value in Gallup’s Clifton Strengths assessment. It has been taken by millions of people and will identify, rank and define your strengths. It will also guide you in how to leverage them.

When you have complete command of your strengths, including their expression, amazing things begin to happen.

You’ll begin to recognize situations that are ripe opportunities for you to leverage them.

As you intentionally exercise your strengths, you’ll also begin to amplify and improve them.

Strengths are even further heightened at the team level. Consider the capabilities of a team collaborating through the execution of complementary strengths that are holistically understood and celebrated. In my experience, teams of this nature have been nothing short of exceptional.

As my connection to my strengths has grown, my ability to drive positive results has increased, as has my fulfillment.

I’ve also developed empathy for those who go through life never consciously defining or engaging with their strengths. How tragic to drift through the years disconnected from the deepest potential that lies within us.

Define and leverage your strengths. It will empower your purpose, perspective, and potential.
